A few years back, the Cleveland Browns made what they believed to be a transformative move.
They brought in former Super Bowl champion Juan Thornhill to strengthen their secondary defense.
Thornhill was anticipated to bring championship-level experience and a competitive edge. His excitement for joining the Browns was so strong that he even got a team-related tattoo before his first season began.
Fast forward to today, and unfortunately, things haven’t gone as planned.
That’s why Browns insider Tony Grossi believes Thornhill could be among the players cut this offseason.
Speaking with ‘Chopz’ on ESPN Cleveland, Grossi suggested that the team is unlikely to bring Thornhill back next season, especially after GM Andrew Berry emphasized the need to get under the salary cap.
Throughout his time in Cleveland, Thornhill has struggled with injuries and inconsistent performances.
Recently, he faced backlash from fans after posting a controversial message on social media.
Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game, he expressed a desire to be playing instead. When fans criticized him, he responded by calling them ‘annoying’ and insisted his comment wasn’t about his former team but rather his passion for playoff football.
While that sentiment may be understandable, it hasn’t helped his standing with the fanbase. Given his performance on the field, it’s easy to see why frustration is mounting.
