Manager Regis Le Bris has now clarified the situation, confirming that Le Fee suffered a minor injury on Friday. He did not provide further details about the setback. Le Bris also revealed that Dan Ballard missed the Brentford match due to injury but is expected to return for the upcoming game against Aston Villa.
The 49-year-old coach is already managing without several first-team players, including Romaine Mundle, Dennis Cirkin, and Luke O’Nien. Le Fee, who joined Sunderland on loan in January, had previously missed five key Championship matches due to injury. Having made an impact in the Premier League, he will be hoping this latest setback does not hinder his form.
While Le Fee’s absence is a blow, it presents opportunities for other players. Simon Adingra is likely to benefit most, having been selected to fill the 25-year-old’s role. Bertrand Traore, signed from Ajax on deadline day, is another player who could step up.
