Rangers Target Left-Back Replacement
Rangers have been active this summer, bringing in nine new signings, but they’re also trimming the squad. Left-back Robbie Fraser has already left for Dunfermline Athletic, while Jefte is reportedly close to a £6million move to Brazilian side Palmeiras, a huge profit on the £600,000 Rangers paid APOEL last summer.
To replace him, Rangers are reportedly eyeing Brentford’s Jayden Meghoma, the 19-year-old who previously worked under Russell Martin at Southampton. Meghoma moved to Brentford for £10million but only made four Premier League appearances before a loan spell at Preston. Rangers had also been linked with Real Betis defender Nobel Mendy, though talks reportedly collapsed.
Midfielder Bailey Rice could also depart, with Motherwell interested in a season-long loan for their former youth product.
Ben Doak Set for Big Move
Former Celtic winger Ben Doak is closing in on a £25million transfer from Liverpool to Bournemouth. The 19-year-old has made just 10 appearances for Liverpool since 2022 and spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in 24 games.
Another ex-Celtic player, Matt O’Riley, could also move again after a £25million switch to Brighton last year. Juventus reportedly want the midfielder as a replacement for Douglas Luiz, who is set to join Nottingham Forest. Celtic won’t get a fee from Doak’s move, but are entitled to 10% of any transfer Brighton receive for O’Riley.
Aberdeen Close in on AC Milan Striker
Aberdeen are set to sign Marko Lazetic from AC Milan. The Serbian U21 international is expected in Scotland this weekend to complete a medical and finalize the deal. Milan reportedly will let him go for free but retain a significant percentage of any future transfer fee.
Aberdeen may also lose defender Slobodan Rubezic to Poland’s Korona Kielce after a loan spell at Novi Pazar. Meanwhile, former striker Bojan Miovski could be on the move again, with Valencia showing interest following a tough first season at Girona.
Hibs Youngest-Ever Player Leaves
Rory Whittaker, Hibs’ youngest-ever first-team player, has joined Championship side Southampton on a permanent deal. The 18-year-old made 14 senior appearances, helped Hibs’ U18s win the CAS Elite U18 League, and had a loan spell at Spartans.
