According to SportMediaset via FCInterNews, sources close to Hakan Calhanoglu have denied that the Inter Milan midfielder is pushing for a transfer. Additionally, it’s claimed that Calhanoglu has not had any conversations with club captain Lautaro Martinez regarding the situation.
Speculation linking the Turkish international with a return to Galatasaray has intensified in recent weeks, turning into something of a transfer saga. Reports from Turkey suggest that Galatasaray are eager to bring Calhanoglu back to Istanbul, and some outlets have gone as far as claiming the player himself has requested Inter lower their asking price to facilitate the move.
Amid these rumors, Calhanoglu is said to have firmly denied any desire to leave Inter.
Tensions appeared to rise after Inter’s Club World Cup exit at the hands of Fluminense, when Martinez publicly stated, “Whoever wants to leave, leave.” This remark was widely interpreted as a dig at Calhanoglu and reportedly didn’t sit well with him. The 31-year-old later posted on social media, criticizing the divisive nature of Martinez’s comments.
In the latest development, SportMediaset reports that Galatasaray have submitted a formal bid of €17 million for Calhanoglu, which Inter promptly rejected. The Italian club is believed to be holding out for €40 million, underscoring how important the midfielder remains to their plans despite the surrounding controversy.
Mediaset also reports that Calhanoglu’s representatives deny any efforts to smooth things over with Martinez via private messages. However, Calhanoglu has reportedly discussed the matter with several Inter teammates, including Marcus Thuram, Yann Sommer, Yann Bisseck, and Denzel Dumfries.
