PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Phillies have signed right-hander to a one-year, $4 million contract, finalized on Monday.
Ross can earn up to $1 million in roster bonuses: $333,333 for 60 and 120 days on the active roster, and $333,334 for 170 days.
The 31-year-old pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers last season, making 10 starts and 25 total appearances with a 3-6 record and a 3.77 ERA.
Originally drafted by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the 2011 amateur draft, the 6-foot-4 pitcher has appeared in 123 career games over seven seasons with the Washington Nationals and Brewers. He holds a career record of 29-34 with a 4.19 ERA, accumulating 469 strikeouts and 170 walks.
Ross joins the Phillies during a relatively quiet offseason for the reigning NL East champions, who also traded for left-hander Jesús Luzardo from the Miami Marlins and signed free-agent outfielder Max Kepler to a one-year, $10 million deal.
