Tom Herman, the former Texas Longhorns head coach, has been let go from his position at Florida Atlantic University, according to multiple reports.
Herman, in his second season with the Owls, ends his tenure with a 6-11 record. FAU, currently sitting at 2-8 this season, has two games remaining on its 2024 schedule: matchups against Charlotte and Tulsa, as noted by Yahoo Sports.
Yahoo Sports also reported that FAU is on a six-game losing streak, including a heartbreaking 18-15 overtime loss to Temple on Saturday. This defeat left the Owls winless in AAC play at 0-6, the only team in the conference without a victory.
Before taking the FAU job, Herman coached the Texas Longhorns from 2017 to 2020, where he recruited popular players such as quarterback Sam Ehlinger, now a backup for the Indianapolis Colts. After leaving Texas, Herman served as an analyst for the Chicago Bears before transitioning back to college coaching.
