The Kansas City Chiefs have selected several slot receivers in recent drafts, but they need to add more size to their wide receiver group. The 2025 NFL Draft primarily features slot receivers in the latter part of the top 100 picks, but a few Day 3 prospects offer the size and physicality to bring a different element to Kansas City’s offense.
Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy lists Virginia Tech wide receiver Da’Quan Felton at 6’4 1/4″, 216 lbs, with 33-inch arms. Despite his large frame, Felton quickly closes the gap on defenders in off-man coverage and poses a vertical threat. His speed allows him to gain separation from press coverage, though it was more evident in 2023 than in 2024—likely due to Virginia Tech’s offensive struggles.
Felton’s size makes him a tough matchup for press corners, though he needs to refine his release techniques. He already utilizes hand swipes to disengage from defenders before accelerating downfield. He also shows good awareness in zone coverage, settling into open spaces and working back to the ball to prevent defenders from jumping the route.
While Felton lacks sudden explosiveness and isn’t a frequent tackle-breaker, his acceleration and top-end speed make him dangerous on slants and crossing routes, where he can challenge defenders’ pursuit angles. His frame also makes him an effective stalk blocker, contributing in the run game and on receiver screens.
Felton’s ceiling is somewhat limited by his lack of elite athleticism and inconsistent separation on complex routes. However, the Chiefs could consider selecting him in the middle rounds of the draft as a physical presence in their receiving corps.
