The New York Knicks have signed free agent following his undrafted status in the 2025 NBA Draft, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
Pate was once a top high school prospect who bypassed college to join the G League. Despite underwhelming results there — averaging 9.4 points on 9.3 shot attempts over two seasons — his youth (19 years old), size, and athleticism offer intriguing upside for a team willing to invest in his development.
The Knicks envision Pate in a role similar to how the Bucks and Wizards have approached AJ Johnson — a big, creative guard with scoring potential who still needs to refine his shooting and decision-making. Fortunately, at his age, there’s still ample time for growth.
