SHOCK NEWS: Florida Bolsters Offense with 5-Star Recruit, Priming DJ Lagway for Breakout. The Gators added J. Michael Sturdivant in the transfer portal

After DJ Lagway’s breakout season, the Florida Gators prioritized upgrading their wide receiver corps.

With Chimere Dike and Elijah Badger departing for the NFL Draft, the team needed reinforcements at the position. They more than delivered in December, landing J. Michael Sturdivant through the transfer portal while securing top recruits Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III.

Eugene Wilson Earns High Praise

In addition to these new additions, the Gators will also welcome back one of their top playmakers on the outside.

Wide receiver Eugene Wilson III missed part of last season due to knee and hip injuries. Though he attempted a return, the team ultimately shut him down. Pro Football Focus’ Max Chadwick recently ranked Wilson as the No. 10 returning wide receiver in college football.

Wilson’s versatility—whether turning short passes into big plays or getting open at all levels of the field—will be crucial in helping Lagway reach his full potential. His development is key to Florida reclaiming its status as a college football powerhouse.
