Aston Villa are weighing up a blockbuster move for Chelsea striker before the transfer window slams shut — with the Senegal international reportedly telling close friends he’s keen on swapping west London for the west Midlands.
He, who has been a regular feature under both Enzo Maresca and Mauricio Pochettino since arriving at Stamford Bridge, has seen his place slip in the pecking order amid Chelsea’s latest flurry of big-money arrivals. That situation could now open the door for Villa, who are desperate to add firepower after Jhon Duran’s January exit left Ollie Watkins as their only natural centre-forward.
With 24 goals in 65 Premier League games, plus six more across cup competitions, the 23-year-old boasts the pedigree to be the perfect strike partner — or competitor — for Villa’s all-time Premier League top scorer Watkins. Crucially, Jackson also has history with Unai Emery, having worked under the Spaniard at Villarreal before his Chelsea move.
Chelsea are understood to be demanding £80 million, though Villa are prepared to test the waters at closer to £60 million. Player pressure and the lure of linking up again with Emery could yet prove decisive, with Villa seen as frontrunners to land him as they prepare for a Europa League campaign.
