Jayden Bogle was a notable absentee during pre-season, sidelined by a hip problem that forced Isaac Schmidt to step in — though without the same impact. The defender is now expected to return to training in time for Leeds’ clash with Everton on Monday.
And he’s confirmed that Daniel Farke has given him the green light to do what he excelled at last year — attack.
Speaking on the BBC’s Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet podcast, Bogle explained how Farke’s philosophy fits his game:
“We want to play attacking, exciting football, but it’s a different league. Pre-season is about timing — knowing when to go and when to hold back. First and foremost you’re a defender, but I love contributing going forward.”
Bogle also reflected on the evolving role of a modern full-back, stressing the balance between defensive duties and offensive output.
If his form from last season is anything to go by, Leeds could benefit massively. The right-back was a standout in their title-winning Championship campaign, notching six goals and four assists across 44 appearances. He fired off 47 shots — second only to one defender in the league — with more than 75% of them coming from inside the box.
His attacking threat was further underlined by his inclusion in the 2024-25 EFL Championship Team of the Season, alongside Dan James and Ao Tanaka, underlining just how influential he was at both ends of the pitch.
