South Carolina Basketball: Abu Yarmah commit sign to Gamecocks over Duke, UCLA, and TCU

South Carolina men’s basketball head coach Lamont Paris announced Monday that wing Abu Yarmah has joined the Gamecocks’ 2025 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-7, 205-pound prospect from Roanoke, Virginia, played a key role in his team’s OTE Championship win this March, averaging 13.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds in the title-clinching victory over the City Reapers on March 14.

During his debut Overtime Elite season in 2023–24, Yarmah contributed 10.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. He previously played alongside fellow South Carolina signees Eli Ellis and Hayden Assemian at Moravian Prep and with the YNG Dreamerz in OTE.

Yarmah becomes the fifth high school recruit in South Carolina’s 2025 class, joining Eli Ellis, Hayden Assemian, power forward EJ Walker, and small forward Grant Polk.

The Gamecocks’ transfer class includes power forwards Nordin Kapic, Elijah Strong, and Christ Essandoko, small forward Mike Sharavjamts, and shooting guards Kobe Knox and Meechie Johnson Jr.
