THE DEAL IS DONE: Reds sign another key man to league deal to replace injured Gibaut

The Cincinnati Reds are in Boston today to kick off a series against the Red Sox and announced a few roster changes ahead of the opener on Monday afternoon. Left-handed reliever Joe La Sorsa has been called up from Triple-A Louisville, replacing right-hander Ian Gibaut on the active roster. Gibaut is dealing with a right shoulder impingement.

Gibaut last pitched on Saturday in a loss to the Padres, tossing a clean ninth inning with just 11 pitches. He’ll now miss a minimum of 15 days on the injured list.

La Sorsa will fill his spot in the bullpen. He has appeared in two games for the Reds this season, spending the rest of the year with Louisville. In his debut, he threw a scoreless inning with two walks against Arizona. However, his second outing was rough, allowing four runs on five hits in one inning versus Cleveland. Since being sent back to Triple-A, he has made four appearances, giving up just one earned run over 3.2 innings, with three hits, three walks, and seven strikeouts.
