The veteran forward has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Ottawa Senators. The deal includes a base salary of US$2 million and performance bonuses that could bring its total value up to $4.75 million.
“Claude adds veteran leadership and a competitive drive to our lineup and continues to be a steady presence both on and off the ice,” said Senators general manager Steve Staios. “We’re thrilled to have him back for another season.”
Giroux recorded 15 goals and 35 assists over 81 games last season. Since joining the Senators three seasons ago, the 37-year-old has appeared in 245 of 246 regular-season games, contributing 71 goals and 122 assists.
Over his 18-year NHL career with the Flyers, Panthers, and Senators, Giroux has racked up 365 goals and 751 assists for 1,116 points, placing him 66th in all-time NHL scoring.
Ottawa wrapped up the 2024-25 regular season with a 45-30-7 record, finishing fourth in the Atlantic Division and securing a wild-card playoff spot. They were eliminated in six games by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the opening round.
