On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Travis Kelce praised the Buffalo Bills’ performance, while his brother Jason offered a word of caution.
“I don’t think this is the last time the Kansas City Chiefs and Bills will meet this season,” said Philadelphia Eagles veteran Jason, hinting at a potential playoff showdown between the two AFC powerhouses.
The Bills secured a critical 30-21 victory over the previously undefeated Chiefs last Sunday, thanks to another outstanding performance by Josh Allen. With only half a game separating these two juggernauts in the AFC standings, another playoff clash—marking their fourth in five years—seems likely.
Travis remained confident in his team’s potential despite the loss. “I think we’re very confident we’ll get things fixed. We have all the talent we need to win another Super Bowl,” he told Jason. However, the 35-year-old tight end acknowledged the need to elevate his own play after a quiet outing with just two catches for eight yards. Fellow tight end Noah Gray stepped up with two touchdown receptions in the game.
“I’ve been on Super Bowl-winning teams,” Travis added. “We have enough talent to make a run at this, and I think everybody knows that.”
While the Chiefs have benefited from strong offensive line and defensive performances, their impressive 9-1 record has also been buoyed by luck, particularly their perfect 7-0 record in one-score games—an improvement from last season’s 4-4 mark. Patrick Mahomes, however, has experienced a statistical dip, averaging just 240.4 passing yards per game, the lowest of his career. Meanwhile, Josh Allen has surged into the MVP conversation, adding to his stellar resume with over 300 total yards and two touchdowns in the Bills’ victory.
Jason commended Buffalo’s execution. “Kudos to the Bills—they played great. Josh Allen was fantastic, and they sustained a lot of drives. The Chiefs’ defense has been excellent, and even in this game, they didn’t play poorly. It was more about the Bills making plays at the right time.”
Travis acknowledged Kansas City’s shortcomings in Sunday’s defeat but expressed optimism moving forward. “We just need to be at our best, and we weren’t for four quarters. There wasn’t a single quarter where we outplayed them. They had a better idea of what we were doing and were fundamentally sound in a lot of areas,” he said.
The stage seems set for these AFC rivals to cross paths once again, with both teams eyeing a deep playoff run.
