College football recruiting has changed significantly since the introduction of the Early Signing Period. High school recruits now take visits much earlier, and the majority sign in early December. As a result, National Signing Day has become less dramatic—a positive or negative development, depending on your perspective.
For the Virginia Tech Hokies, recent signing periods have been relatively drama-free. Head coach Brent Pry has been effective at maintaining his recruiting class, even as other programs attempt last-minute poaching efforts.
With the 2024 Early Signing Period set for Wednesday, Pry received encouraging news on Tuesday with the commitment of three-star cornerback Jordan Crim.
Crim, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback from Camden High School in South Carolina, has seen his recruitment steadily rise in recent months. A multi-sport athlete, Crim visited Blacksburg in September 2023 and received his offer from the Hokies in June. Most of his offers came this year, including Virginia Tech, Duke, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State. Duke, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt have been trending upward following strong seasons by their standards.
Though slightly undersized—a common trait for high school players—Crim possesses standout traits such as length and speed. He’s an underrated addition to Pry’s 2025 class, becoming the 18th commitment overall and the second cornerback and fourth defensive back in the group.
Crim is set to officially sign with the Hokies on Wednesday.
