Zach Groves has been a key in-state target for Tennessee since receiving an early scholarship offer nearly two years ago, and he’s visited the Vols more than any other school he’s considering. As he nears his college decision, Tennessee remains among his top contenders.
The Five-star Class of 2026 edge rusher from East Robertson High School in Cross Plains, Tenn., announced on Tuesday that he has narrowed his options down to five schools, with Tennessee unsurprisingly making the list. Joining the Vols in his final group are USC, Clemson, Georgia, and Ole Miss, which he shared in a post on his X account.
“More than blessed to be in this situation,” Groves wrote in his post, which included a graphic displaying the logos of all five schools. “I want to thank all the coaches who have recruited me along the way, and with that being said, I have cut down my recruitment to these 5 schools…”
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 252 pounds, Groves has received nearly 30 scholarship offers, including from his five finalists. He received an offer from Tennessee in July 2023 and has visited the Vols six times since April 2023.
Ranked as the No. 257 overall prospect and No. 26 edge rusher in the 2026 class by the 247Sports Composite, Groves is also considered a four-star prospect by 247Sports, where he ranks as the No. 30 edge rusher and No. 6 junior from Tennessee.
He is the younger brother of N.C. State linebacker Elijah Groves, a former Five-star prospect and the top player from Tennessee in the 2024 class, as well as Austin Peay running back signee Isaiah Groves.
