The Nebraska Cornhuskers have secured their quarterback for the 2027 class with the commitment of Trae Taylor, who chose Nebraska over offers from LSU, Illinois, and several other programs. As the first commit of the class, Taylor has already taken on the role of peer recruiter, aiming to bring more talent with him to Lincoln.

One of Taylor’s first public recruiting targets is Ahmad Hudson, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound tight end from Ruston High School in Louisiana. Hudson is considered a five-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 1 tight end and a top-five overall player in the 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite.

Taylor’s recruiting efforts seem to be making an impact, as Nebraska is already well-positioned in Hudson’s recruitment. Hudson recently visited Lincoln and spoke with HuskerMax about the experience.

“I had a great time in Lincoln,” Hudson said. “I met a lot of good people, and the atmosphere was really cool. The facilities stood out too — I even got to check out the basketball facilities while I was there.”

Landing Hudson would be a major win for Nebraska. 247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks praised Hudson’s talent, describing him as a big, athletic target with strong instincts and body control for his size. Brooks highlighted Hudson’s ability to adjust to the ball in the air, his athletic upside, and his potential as a blocker, though noting he needs to refine his technique. He also emphasized Hudson’s standout leaping ability on the basketball court, which could translate well on the football field. Overall, Brooks views Hudson as one of the top high-upside receiving prospects in the 2027 class.
