BREAKING: LSU football flipped recruitment after 4-star’s SEC school tough decision

LSU Football had little to celebrate on Saturday, as they suffered a humiliating loss to the Florida Gators that will likely push them out of the AP Top 25. To make matters worse, the Tigers also received some disappointing news on the recruitment front.

Devin Harper, a former four-star recruit from LSU, flipped his commitment to Ole Miss on Saturday, as reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3. Harper is a 6’5″, 313-pound interior offensive lineman from Shreveport, Louisiana. He had originally committed to LSU in January, choosing the Tigers over schools like Georgia, Florida State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

Despite Harper’s earlier commitment, Ole Miss continued to pursue him. The Rebels recently hosted him for their impressive victory over the Bulldogs on November 9. After the game, Harper told OM Spirit’s Zach Berry, “The atmosphere was top tier, the best game I’ve been to. The Grove showed me love and the game atmosphere was just electric from the team’s play to the fans.”

Harper is ranked as the No. 90 overall prospect in the nation by the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also the No. 7 interior offensive lineman and the No. 3 prospect in Louisiana.

As for LSU, the football program is in turmoil following their 27-16 loss to Florida on Saturday. The Tigers’ second-half collapse allowed Florida to score 17 unanswered points, while LSU only managed six in return, including a 14-3 deficit in the fourth quarter. This loss also ended a remarkable streak for head coach Brian Kelly, who had won at least 10 games in every season since 2017. With a 6-4 record and just two games remaining, LSU can no longer reach that milestone.

The Tigers still have home games against Vanderbilt and Oklahoma left on their regular season schedule, but the loss to Florida underscores the struggles they’ve faced this season.
