Former Texas Longhorns head coach Mack Brown is available this offseason after wrapping up a six-year tenure with the North Carolina Tar Heels.
The national championship-winning coach was in attendance at the Moody Center on Saturday, witnessing Texas’ stunning 22-point comeback victory over Texas A&M. Brown was seen interacting with Longhorns players, shaking hands with key figures like safety Michael Taaffe, Arch Manning, Deandre Moore, and CJ Baxter.
Brown has been a popular choice among fans for a return to the program, and his presence at the game only intensified the calls for Texas to bring him back in some capacity.
One fan took to X, writing, “Still love me some Mack Brown. Should bring him on board as an analyst/consultant.” Another echoed the sentiment: “Great seeing Coach Brown back on campus. Hopefully, he’ll have a role with the University soon—and let’s get him some fresh gear to wear!”
During his time at Texas, Brown led the Longhorns to nine straight 10-win seasons, two Big 12 titles, and the program’s last national championship. Whether he will take on an advisory role under head coach Steve Sarkisian remains uncertain, but as a Hall of Fame coach, he undoubtedly has valuable insights to offer.
Brown ranks sixth all-time in head coaching wins (282), trailing only Joe Paterno (409), Bobby Bowden (357), Bear Bryant (323), Pop Warner (314), and Nick Saban (297).
