The Toronto Blue Jays are working to attract more talent but have yet to make any significant moves.
After finishing last in their division last season, the Blue Jays need to bolster their roster this offseason to bounce back. They also face uncertainty regarding some of their star players’ futures, including Vladimir Guerrero Jr. If the team can perform well in 2025, they might strengthen their case to retain him.
The Blue Jays have been linked to nearly every available player, with former Boston Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta being one potential target, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
“One team I’ll mention, as Jon Heyman has reported before, is the Blue Jays,” Morosi said. “They’re a potential fit for Nick Pivetta. We know they were heavily involved in discussions for Corbin Burnes. Pivetta, of course, is from Western Canada… The Jays are one potential landing spot.”
Pivetta is expected to secure a four-year, $60 million contract, a significant jump from his $7.5 million salary in 2024. However, any team signing him would also forfeit a draft pick due to the qualifying offer attached to him.
Still, the Blue Jays might be willing to spend aggressively if they feel the need to make a big splash.
