The 23rd-ranked Colorado Buffaloes are taking a notable risk with several players ahead of their bowl game on Saturday. Colorado is set to face 17th-ranked BYU in the Valero Alamo Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Head coach Deion Sanders has confirmed that all players planning to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, including projected first-round picks Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, will participate in the Alamo Bowl, despite the potential injury risk just months before the draft in April.

According to On3 Sports and Ryan Koenigsberg of DNVR Buffs, Deion Sanders revealed that Colorado will provide disability insurance for its players participating in the Alamo Bowl. Notably, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have received “historic” insurance policies.
“We have a multitude of players that are draftable and received a draft grade,” Sanders explained. “They had visibility insurance all season, and we want to ensure that if something happens, they’re covered.”
Sanders highlighted that Shedeur and Hunter, likely to be the first two picks in the NFL Draft, have been granted the most comprehensive coverage in college football history. “It far exceeds anything that has ever been provided to players in this sport,” he said.
The announcement by On3 Sports was accompanied by a photo of Shedeur, Hunter, and Shilo Sanders. However, many fans on social media questioned Shilo’s inclusion, pointing out that, as a 24-year-old safety, he is not considered a guaranteed pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
