According to Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods, former Purdue Boilermakers defensive tackle and graduate transfer Cole Brevard is scheduled to visit Texas football on December 13. Before heading to Austin, Brevard is reportedly set to visit the SMU Mustangs on December 12.

Cole Brevard, a former Purdue Boilermakers defensive tackle and 2024 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention, has proven to be a standout player this season. Over 11 games and starts in 2024, he recorded 19 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and 13 defensive stops. Brevard was the highest-graded defensive tackle on Purdue’s roster in 2024 against Big Ten competition, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
Texas football, led by defensive line coach Kenny Baker, is facing a significant need at the defensive tackle position this offseason. The Longhorns are set to lose eight defensive tackles due to a combination of the NFL Draft, exhausted eligibility, and transfer portal departures. Among those leaving are Vernon Broughton, Bill Norton, Jermayne Lole, and Alfred Collins, alongside four defensive tackles—Jaray Bledsoe, Sydir Mitchell, Aaron Bryant, and Tia Savea—who have already entered the portal.
Brevard’s potential addition would be a major boost for Texas, which is losing nearly all of its game-experienced defensive snaps at nose tackle from this season. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 330 pounds, Brevard brings both size and production to the table.
During his four years at Purdue, Brevard played in 38 games, starting 23 of them since 2021. He began his collegiate career in 2020 during the COVID-shortened season, redshirting in 2021 after appearing in just one game. Since 2022, Brevard has been a consistent performer, ranking third among Purdue defensive tackles with 38 combined tackles and second with nine tackles for loss and 28 defensive stops over that span.
