Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Turner will not be participating in the upcoming Senior Bowl this Saturday. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Turner had to withdraw from the event at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama, due to a stress fracture.
Rapoport reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Turner, projected as a Top 50 draft pick, discovered that a stress fracture from training camp, which required a rod insertion, had not fully healed. Despite playing on the injury all season, doctors have advised him to avoid impact on his leg for 3-4 weeks to allow proper healing. Turner still intends to participate in Combine interviews and showcase his skills at his Pro Day.
While the Senior Bowl offers an opportunity to impress NFL scouts, Turner is prioritizing his health ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft in April.
A native of DeSoto, Texas, Turner played in all 12 games for Texas A&M in 2024, recording 36 total tackles (20 solo, 16 assisted), 2.0 sacks, six tackles for loss, a pass defended, and a forced fumble. Throughout his four years in College Station, he tallied 115 total tackles and 10.0 sacks, with his best season coming in 2023 when he notched 6.0 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.
A highly regarded four-star recruit, Turner chose Texas A&M over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State, and several other programs.
