Florida State received some disappointing news recently when three-star defensive end Kamron Wilson announced his commitment to Syracuse. Wilson made his decision after taking an unofficial visit to get a closer look at the Orange.
The development was a setback for the Seminoles, who had hosted Wilson for their Legacy Recruiting Weekend last month and extended him a scholarship offer in February. Florida State appeared to be in a strong position before his pledge to Syracuse, and the coaching staff isn’t backing off in their pursuit.
On Wednesday, Wilson confirmed that he still intends to take an official visit to Florida State from June 20-22. That visit will be crucial for the Seminoles, as this recruitment seems far from settled.
Wilson had a standout junior season at Miami Southridge High School, recording 118 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He posted five games with double-digit tackles, including a season-high 11 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks in a 40-8 win over Edison High School on October 5.
Recognized for his impressive performance, Wilson earned first-team All-Dade honors from the Miami Herald and was named a first-team 6A all-star by FloridaHSFootball. Still developing physically, he has the potential to emerge as a blue-chip recruit before his senior season concludes.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound edge rusher is ranked No. 552 nationally, No. 49 among EDGE players, and No. 82 in Florida for the 2026 class, according to 247Sports.
Florida State currently has eight verbal commitments in its 2026 recruiting class, which ranks No. 14 in the nation.
